We are collaborating with Hombres y Mujeres en Acción, a wonderful Non Governmental Organization in Guatemala to build a new middle school classroom at their school. We have collected $13,500 and only need $6500 to reach our goal of building the new classroom for the children.

Stoves, stoves, and more stoves
While our May 2024 team raised enough money to donate 30 stoves, we were concerned to learn there are hundreds of families on the waiting list to receive a stove. Our goal was to raise enough money for 100 families. Our amazing donors have provided well over the initial goal of 100. These families will now have a safer and more healthy way to cook and feed their families. This is always an ongoing project as we try to install at least 15-20 stoves per trip. So 100% of all stove donations go to provide stoves for families.

Raising Money for a Much Needed Surgery
Our dear friend Filomena, an expert weaver in Santiago de Zamora needs surgery. In February our team noticed this large growth on her left cheek. We gave her the money to see a physician, who has diagnosed it as a lipoma. We are so grateful it is not malignant. So while we were back in May, we found that she had not had surgical removal because she could not afford it. It is painful, especially at night when the throbbing keeps her awake. We were able to raise enough money to pay for this dear lady's surgery. Thank you to all our donors

Last year we were presented with the amazing opportunity of supporting a young woman from San Andrés Ceballos in her quest to begin a nursing career. Our team donated the tuition, books, and uniforms for her to attend the auxiliary nursing program. She has graduated and worked alongside our team in our February 2024 clinic. We are so proud of her and grateful for our collaboration with Nueva Generación. This is part of our goal of capacity building and we plan to do more of this important work.
We are now supporting another nursing student from San Andrés Ceballos.

We reached our summer 2023 goal of raising $5,000 and our anonymous donor matched this with another $5,000. We are so grateful to all who donated any amount to this campaign. This will go a long way toward creating sustainability for our vision and work.

Our teams enjoy several optional activities that promote team-building and cohesiveness.
These activities include:
- Hiking up an active volcano and roasting s'mores
- Hiking to the Hill of the Cross
- Cooking classes at Choco Museo
- Historical tours of Antigua and its ruins
- Visiting women's co-ops
- Participating in healing services with a Maya shaman
- Ziplining
- Making homemade tortillas
- Participating in local holidays and celebrations
- And, of course, shopping and stimulating the economy

All of our trips for 2024 were filled. We are so blessed to have wonderful volunteers who want to participate in this amazing work. I keep a list of those who wish to go in the future, so let me know of your interest.

1. We completed our 6th playground at San Pedro Yepocapa.
2. We have collected enough money to pay for Filomena's surgery.
3. We have collected enough money to donate 132 woodstoves to families.
4. We are seeking donations to help Hombres y Mujeres en Accion to build a middle school classroom at their school.
