In keeping with the concepts of International Public Health, we are currently working on "capacity building", which is providing health promotion and education to enable communities and individuals to more efficiently self-manage their health care challenges. We have provided classes (in Spanish) on the importance of using water filters, care and maintenance of water filters, nutritional needs, family planning, prevention of ascariasis (intestinal worms), wound care, and the importance of cervical cancer screening. We hope that in the future, the communities will not depend on outside assistance for their health care needs and challenges. Below are photos of our team giving some lessons and classes. Tabitha, RN, gave some wonderful hands-on wound care classes to student nurses in Ecuador. Jeannie, RN, Nigam, APRN, Disa (medical student) and Rhonda, APRN are seen giving classes in San Andrês Ceballos.
